C02 Modulation of microglial enhancer landscapes by host microbiota during health and neurodegeneration

Microglia are macrophages of the central nervous system that modulate the pathology of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s. Recent reports suggest that microorganisms are a critical source of epigenomic changes in myeloid cells. We will investigate regulatory networks controlling chromatin specifications in microglia. The effect of bacteria-derived metabolites will be analysed in a mouse model of Alzheimer’s disease and the microglial chromatin landscape in Alzheimer’s disease will be examined in tissue samples from patients.
